Returning To Work // Group Coaching Workshop

practical workshops in York for women returning to work after maternity leave with For Modern Mothers

Heading back to work after maternity leave can feel like straddling two worlds. That constant push-pull between the mother and the woman. This workshop is to help you navigate this discombobulating time with strength and confidence.

What is it about?

I see SO MUCH stress and anxiety from new mothers in my classes about returning to work after maternity leave. This group workshop aims to make that pivotal transition a more positive experience.

The workshop will be a mix of practical information and insights, a whole load of tips and techniques to help you at this transitional time, along with supportive coaching tools to boost your self-confidence and resilience so you can feel more positive about heading back to work.

There is a lot to think about at this time - but you've probably got no time to do it! This is some of the common stuff that you might be thinking about...

~ You may be worried about 'baby-brain' and if you'll remember how to do your job.

~ The logistics of childcare, or feeling anxious about how tired you are going to be.

~ Perhaps you are worrying about  'the juggle'  going to work, of all the life and home admin, and being present to be a parent too.

~ Maybe you want to put in place some strategies about how to share the load with your partner.

~ Perhaps you are wondering who you actually are now you've had a baby, because you feel different.

~ Maybe you need help setting boundaries, or separating work and non-work time and headspace.

~ You may also be wondering how the heck you can fit in time and space for YOU once you go back to work.

~ Oh and of course you're already feeling the obligatory mum-guilt, how are you going to deal with that?

We will look at all of this and more, in a supportive way. I cannot give you a magic wand to fix all of this instantly (sorry!), BUT I can give you time and space to explore where you're at as well as lots and really great information, and tools and techniques really work that will help you feel more positive and empowered at the crucial time as you return to work.

I’ll also share some simple tools that can help you to start to explore searching for a different role, job or career if you're thinking of a change of direction too - but haven’t time to think about it with everything else in life! Because for many women this is a natural time to revaluate whats important to them in work and life.

We’ll explore all of this through the lens of 'Matrescence'. The radical identity shift that a woman goes through as she becomes a mother.

This workshop is for you if...

~ You want a more positive and empowered return to work experience after maternity leave. You may be going back full time, part time, compress hours - it will be helpful to all situations.

~ You would like time and space to think about returning to work - but perhaps you feel you can’t see the wood for the trees right now and feel you're on a hamster wheel.

~ You want to feel more prepared to go back to work.

~ You want to build healthy habits to support yourself at this transitional time.

~ You need some time and space to remember who you are, and get your confidence back.

~ You'd like to feel less alone in this, and connecting with a group of like minded mothers going though similar time could really help you.

What do I get?

~ a 2 and 1/2 hour in person workshop

~ a specially created workbook to explore all the ideas we'll discuss, that you can continue after the session

~ a series of supportive wellbeing resources and practices to use long after the workshop to further support you

~ the chance to stay connected via an online group, to share insights and support each other after the workshop

~ refreshments and homemade cake!

Can I bring my baby?
Yes of course you can bring baby along. If you do it’s probably helpful to bring some toys to keep them amused.

When should I come? You can come anytime that you're on Maternity leave - at the start, the end or the middle. Anytime you're thinking about returning to work and want to feel more prepared, and want support around it is the right time for you to come along.
