An workshop for all mothers and pregnant women

Next date - TBC

The changes that occur to your body during pregnancy and then postpartum are the most intense a women's body experiences. They can be difficult experiences to navigate. Understanding and knowing what you should or can do to have a strong, well functioning body once you've had a baby (or babies) is important, but we often are not given help or support around this.

Much of the changes that happen are to do with your pelvic floor and core. Having pelvic, abdominal or back issues postnatally are really very common, but often not spoken about openly - which can prevent women getting the help and support they need. The pelvic floor remains a body part that is a mystery to many. Often mothers and pregnant people are told to “do your pelvic floor exercises” - but it's usually not actually explained what this means, what to do, or why it's beneficial (and sometimes those 'kegels' actually make things worse!) . Added to this there so many myths about the pelvic floor, what exercises to do, what you shouldn't do, added to that often it can still feel like a taboo subject. We want to shed light on many of these unspoken pelvic issues that are actually so very common (but shouldn't be with the right help and support). There's also many emotional factors at play too when it comes to pelvic health, and that's vitally important to be supported with too.

All of this is why we've joined forces to bring you this workshop. Specifically for pregnant women (so you know in advance what to expect and how to support yourself) and postnatal women - by postnatal we mean ANY time after birth). We want to give you the truth about your pelvic floor, what to expect after birth and in labour, what is 'normal' vs what you shouldn't put up with, what you need to know about getting back to exercise and optimal pelvic and core health. -Because this can affect you for the rest of your life!

Join Susan Bradley and Emma Tailby for this collaborative workshop. We'll be busting the myths, being real and not sugar coating it, and we really wanting to inform and empower you at this critical time in your life.

What we'll cover:

  • We'll cover everything that is common but should not be something you have to 'put up with' - from leaking when you sneeze, to prolapse, to separated abdominal muscles (diastasis), pelvic pain, lower back, hip or groin problems, continence or constipation issues, frequent urination

  • You'll learn how to understand your body better, from posture and lifestyle to past history that can affect your pelvic floor and core.

  • We'll also learn some fundamental techniques and practices to support you, including movement and breathing so you have an opportunity to experience the work in your own body.

  • Plus there will be a Q&A to answer any questions around pelvic and core issues.

This workshop is for anyone who is pregnant now, or has been pregnant and has had a baby and wants to understand their body better, regain strength and functionality so that they can move and feel good in their bodies, in their minds and in themselves. It's the stuff you really want and need to know, so you can feel empowered and not embarrassed.

The workshop will give you space and information to have more understanding and connection to your body, and have a well and functioning body moving forward..
