Tell Me About.... the uterus
In this video I'll explain a little about what your uterus is, how it's the home for your baby in pregnancy and it grows to accomodate not just your baby, but your placenta and the amniotic fluid too. Growing in pregnancy from the size of a pear to the size of a watermelon - WOW!
And then once baby and the placenta are birthed, it contract back down to the size of a pear.
Also how the muscles the womb and cervix work in labour (more about that in another 'tell me about....' video soon), and how what labour and the surges (contractions) are doing to your uterus to create an exit for baby to enter the world. It's a really amazing piece of kit! We should celebrate out bodies so much more.
In the words of Ina May Gaskin: "There is no other organ quite like the uterus. If men had such an organ they would brag about it - so should we"
I hope all this is helpful and informative. The more you know about you body in pregnancy and labour the more confident you can feel.
And that is my job to help you with that. Any questions at all, comment below or drop me a message or email
